To make the shopping experience for all Currys customers as enjoyable as possible, we are delighted to announce our new Quiet Hours. In each of our 16 stores, we will now have Quiet Hours every Monday to Friday from when store opening until 11am. During this time, noise in-store will be reduced, lights will be kept low and there will be no flashing screens.
This is an enhancement of our current autism-friendly initiatives in store, which include autism-friendly hours and evenings, sensory toys and ear defenders. These initiatives were introduced as part of our charity partnership with My Canine Companion, who provide service dogs to families with autism.
To support our new Quiet Hours, we have joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network. Anyone who visits our store who has a hidden disability can avail of our Sunflower lanyards to show their disability and that they may need additional time to shop.
While tech is so important to our neurodiverse customers, the shopping experience can often be overwhelming. With our new Quiet Hours, Sunflower lanyards, sensory maps, and existing sensory aids, we hope that shopping in a Currys store is more accessible and more comfortable for all customers.
“I am really proud of the ‘Quiet Hour’ initiative, which shows our commitment to making Currys a place where everyone feels comfortable to shop. Since beginning our partnership with service dog charity My Canine Companion in 2021, we as a business have put diversity and inclusion to the forefront of our agenda. Feedback from the weekly autism awareness evenings was overwhelmingly positive so we’ve extended this experience to weekdays and to focus on all our neurodiverse customers. We’re excited to have joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network to help facilitate this initiative."
