It turns out over half of us (57%) are hanging onto leftovers we have no intention of ever touching again. Whether it's last Friday’s takeaway or a dubious portion of pasta, we’re a hopeful (if slightly delusional) bunch.

And the mystery deepens - almost 1 in 4 people admit to having unidentified Tupperware in their fridge. You know the one. It’s been there so long it's practically part of the fridge.

The great fridge debate: Where do you keep your ketchup?

Ah yes, the age-old question: does ketchup belong in the fridge or the press? Two-thirds (67%) of you said fridge, but we know this one’s going to divide households. While we’re at it, 61% keep their eggs chilled, and 32% pop their chocolate in there too. No matter your stance, it seems fridge politics are alive and well in Irish homes.

Fridge clean freaks – V – the wait until it smells crew!

Only 10% of people clean their fridge weekly, while over a quarter wait until something smells off. Not ideal - but hey, we’ve all been there.

It’s no surprise then that the most wanted fridge feature is a self-cleaning mode, with 61% dreaming of the day they never have to scrub shelves again.

As for fridge organisation? Only 18% of us are full-on Marie Kondo fans. The rest? We're just trying to keep the yogurts from toppling over.
