At Currys, we believe that tech should be for everyone - and that includes the experience of shopping for it. That’s why we’re excited to introduce a new initiative designed to make in-store visits more inclusive for people with additional needs.
We’ve partnered with WelcoMe, a smart, user-friendly platform that allows customers to pre-book a personalised shopping experience in our stores. Whether it’s help navigating the store, extra time for communication, or support for sensory sensitivities, WelcoMe helps us tailor our service to fit the needs of each individual.
What is WelcoMe?
WelcoMe is an inclusive customer service platform that helps businesses provide tailored experiences. Customers create a profile on the WelcoMe website or app, detailing their access and communication requirements (e.g., mobility support, preferred communication styles, sensory considerations) alongside what they're looking to purchase or research. They can then schedule their visit, ensuring businesses are prepared to meet their individual needs before they arrive.
When a visit is booked, our store colleagues receive a heads-up along with short training videos and guidance specific to that visitor but also training and tips to support disability awareness amongst staff for all customers. This means our team is better prepared and can offer the kind of thoughtful, personalised support that makes shopping more comfortable and stress-free.
Why it matters
Everyone deserves a welcoming, accessible experience when shopping. For many people with disabilities or additional needs, visiting a busy retail store can be overwhelming or challenging. Our goal is to remove barriers and create a more inclusive environment where all our customers feel seen, heard, and supported.
Where can you use it?
After a successful pilot in our London and Birmingham stores, the service has now launched in Currys stores across Ireland, as we continue to build a more inclusive future for retail.
A first for Irish retail
While WelcoMe has already been used in museums, cultural spaces, and public attractions, Currys is proud to be one of the first major retailers in Ireland to adopt this technology. It’s all part of our mission to lead the way in making shopping more inclusive - because great service means meeting everyone’s needs, not just the majority.
