The 2nd of April marked World Autism Awareness Day with the whole month of April being Autism Awareness Month. This year, we’re delighted to support My Canine Companion, a Cork-based charity that provides service dogs to children with autism.
What do My Canine Companion do?
My Canine Companion is the largest provider of service dogs to children and young adults with autism in Ireland.
Their service dogs keep children safe, become their best friend and transform the lives of the families they’re placed in. They also boost the child’s confidence, help their social skills, and bring a sense of normalcy to the family’s life from going for a walk to going to school.
In addition to placing autism service dogs with families, they provide therapy service dogs to schools to help all children and lessen the anxiety a school setting can bring, especially in a pandemic.
The service My Canine Companion provides is truly life-changing.
How can I help My Canine Companion?
Whether you’re shopping online or in-store with Currys, you can easily donate to My Canine Companion. Or you can donate at any time by visiting our iDonate page.
When you’re purchasing online, a pop up message will appear where you can donate to My Canine Companion after your check out.
When you visit one of our 16 stores and purchase a new piece of tech or a home appliance, you can easily donate by card. As you’re paying, our colleagues will ask if you’d like to donate just 50c when you’re paying by card or a contactless method – a small amount that can make a big difference.
