- Once figured out, it works well for what I bought it for which is recording and listening to podcasts.
For music, unless you have MP3's already on your computer you won't be able to download them.
But for podcasts this item is fine.

- The directions are incomprehensible, it took my engineer housemate 15 minutes to figure it out. It comes with a cover piece that looks like the screen, which there are no instructions to remove - in fact, there are almost no written instructions at all. Just confusing pictures. I almost sent it back when the volume could not be raised to the point I could hear it (I'm hard of hearing).
Once you figure out how to use this item, and buy an earphone with volume control (which the earphones that come with this do not have) it works OK for what it is.
Though I still have no idea how to make it work half the time, I just end up pressing buttons until I get the podcast I want.
I would give this item a much higher rating if it was not for the wonky not-really instructions and the inability to raise the volume to the point where I can hear it.
This is not an item advertised for children, if it were the volume control would be understandable but this wasn't a child's toy.

- Underpowered compared to previous model I had in regard to powering small external speaker. While driving too, volume needs to be turned up to maximum to be heard over car noise and even then I strain to hear.
